Colors when chosen correctly, can transform a space but choosing a paint color can be an overwhelming process with the plethora of choices out there. If you have no clue where to start, these tips might be helpful.
1. Check out the latest color trend. Google it.
2. Check a few websites on how those colors look like in different rooms.
3. Decide on the functionality and mood of the room that you want to paint. When I was thinking of a paint color for our living room, I was thinking of warm and inviting. I looked up for warm color schemes.
4. Look up the color psychology. Different colors have different effects.
5. Think about the colors in your wardrobe. Go with the colors you mostly use, that makes you feel good!
6. If you like bold colors but are intimidated with using it on the walls, go with a neutral on the wall and accent with cushions, flowers, wall art and decor and you can use an area rug that brings all the colors together.
7. Another option is, keep one base color(neutral like brown, gray or taupe) that runs throughout the house and have an accent wall in each room.
8. Finally, with any option you choose, once you have shortlisted the colors before deciding on the final one(s), buy two samples of each color, one shade lighter and the actual color. Almost always, the actual color is darker when applied on the wall than what we see on the color card. Apply them in different parts of the room and observe how it looks at different times of the day and see how you like it.
Hopefully these steps will help you choose the right color. Ultimately, whatever you choose should be a reflection of your personality. Have fun experimenting!
